At The Mathieson Music Trust School in Kolkata India, we believe the best way to change a child's life is to provide an all round education to change the world in which they live. And the best way to change their world is to help their community to become self-sustaining. This is what the Mathieson Music School in Kolkata Child Sponsorship does.

By sponsoring a child for £50 per month or £600 per year, which works out at (£1.64 per day), you will help to bring about long-term benefits to the child, their family and community. Child sponsorship funds are used with the co-operation and direction of the community to benefit poorest of the poor vulnerable children, families and community members, including sponsored children. This work ensures that the community will be able to provide the children with the basics they need, which helps them to grow up in a healthy environment and have the chance for a better future.

How to sponsor a child

At present we have 35 girls and 35 boys at the school from the age of 5-15 of mainly Christian faith together with some Hindus and Muslims. There are two types of sponsorship, a general sponsorship for a child or for a specific child. The Mathieson Music Trust School goal is to ensure that all children receive access to basic education that will help them become fulfilled, productive members of their communities.

How does sponsorship help a child

A child at The Mathieson Music School will receive the following:-

• Stay as boarder until the completion of general education, Class XII (equivalent to A-Level). A child will stay from the age of 5 till 18-20 years
• Provide nutritious food
• Provide full medical care
• Clean water
• Uniforms
• All school books and stationary
• Bed and bedding
• Clothes
• Special one to one tuition
• Provide all Musical Instruments
• Provide Indian Music lessons 6 times a week
• Provide classical lessons music every day
• Orchestral training three times a week
